Dining with Deb: A Celebration of Women

Elise Schenck Data News Weekly Contributor

This month as we celebrate Women’s History Month, it is chockfull of events. One example of this was held recently; Dining with Deb™ was a VIP experience with renowned Women’s Health Advocate Dr. Sharon Malone, in advance of the highly anticipated release of her new book “GROWN WOMAN TALK Your Guide to Getting and Staying HEALTHY.”

Dining with Deb™ was created by women, for women, to celebrate women.

Developed by Deb Grant (formerly Elam), a retired president of the GE Foundation and now President & CEO of the New Orleans-based consulting firm, Corporate Playbook™, Dining with Deb™ is an experience that brings together professional women deliberately crossing racial, religious, and political barriers, driving meaningful conversations & connections.

The book is a practical guide to aging and health for women who have felt ignored or marginalized by the medical profession. Dr. Malone is a leading OB/GYN and expert on menopausal and post-reproductive health, and her book aims to address topics that are often taboo and not spoken about.
While today’s relationships are often built via a LinkedIn conversation or email, Dining with Deb™ encourages women to turn off their phones, unplug their laptops, and block out time in their schedule to be present for each other.

The Dining with Deb™ experience brought together over 150 professional women deliberately crossing racial, religious, and political barriers, driving meaningful conversations and connection at The New Orleans Culinary and Hospitality Institute (NOCHI) last night. The women partook in an exclusive VIP reception with lite bites, signature cocktails, an informative discussion with Dr. Malone led by Deb Grant, and an afterparty with opportunities to network and mingle.

A who’s who of women came out to this amazing event.

“I can’t think of a better way to celebrate NOLA women than to have a renowned women’s health advocate lead a grown woman conversation about health and wellness! And that’s exactly what Deb Grant has curated with her “Dining with Deb” event which happened in NOLA, Mardh 14th, 2024!” Angela Young of ALY Media.

Many have praised the book, noting its timeliness and relevance. Including former First Lady Michelle Obama.

“I encourage every woman to get this LIFE-CHANGING book! — Deb Grant (formerly Elam), Founder of Dining with Deb™ “A must-read for anyone who cares about their quality of life. Dr. Sharon Malone is the first person I turn to for a whole host of issues, especially my health.”

This book has women talking about the important issue of Black Women’s Health. It is an important read that is informative and improves the quality of women’s lives.
