New Orleans Agenda

The Housing Authority of New Orleans (HANO) is proud to announce that one of its development partners, McCormack Baron Salazar, Inc., is one of seven agencies selected to receive funding from the Louisiana Housing Corporation (LHC) in collaboration with the Louisiana Office of Community Development (OCD). The LHC has awarded a total of $18,606,690 in Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) Funds through the PRIME 3 Program to support seven projects aimed at developing 255 new construction housing units across the state.

McCormack Baron Salazar received PRIME 3 funding for the Winn Dixie Phase II Project, which will bring 45 new Affordable Housing Units to the New Orleans community. McCormack Baron Salazar and HANO requested and received the full amount of $5,350,000 for this project. This significant development will contribute to the expansion of Affordable Housing in the city, addressing a critical need for quality housing options.

The Winn Dixie Phase II is a continuation of the successful Winn Dixie Phase I, which opened as City Square 162, a mixed-income, multifamily property that has already positively impacted the community by providing diverse housing opportunities.

Evette Hester, Executive Director of HANO, expressed her gratitude and enthusiasm for the project: “We are delighted to expand the Affordable Housing stock in New Orleans through the Winn Dixie Phase II Project. This funding will enable us to provide much-needed housing for our residents, fostering a stronger and more vibrant community. We extend our sincere thanks to the Louisiana Housing Corporation and the Louisiana Office of Community Development for their continued support and commitment to improving housing opportunities in our city.”

The PRIME 3 Program aims to promote the development of sustainable and Affordable Housing by providing crucial financial support to agencies dedicated to community development. The Winn Dixie Phase II Project is a testament to HANO’s ongoing efforts to enhance the quality of life for residents in New Orleans.
