Data News Weekly has proudly served the New Orleans community for over 60 years. As one of the oldest African American newspapers in Louisiana, now in its second generation, we continue to model ourselves as “Truly the People’s Paper.”
Our readership on topics such as current events, entertainment, politics, and community issues consistently ranks among the highest. We take pride in maintaining an open and inclusive perspective on subjects that directly affect our community. Between our wide distribution through- out the city, the Westbank, surrounding areas, and our strong online presence, we maintain the largest circulation within Louisiana’s African American community.
With an important election approaching, on October 11, 2025, the citizens of New Orleans will soon decide who will lead our city for the next four years. We recognize the critical importance of voting and ensuring that our voices are heard—not only here at home but across the nation. The leadership we choose will have a direct impact on our quality of life and the future of our commu- nity.
As we evaluate the candidates for Mayor, we see several strong leadership options. However, after careful consideration, Data News Weekly believes that one candidate stands out. Based on her extensive experience in local government, her proven track record in leadership roles, and her ability to step into the position ready to serve effectively from day one, we are confident in our choice.
Her compassion and dedication extend across all races, ages, and neighborhoods. For these reasons, we believe that Helena Moreno is the best choice to move New Orleans forward in a positive and progressive direction.
Sincerely,
Terry Jones
