LSU Star and National Champion Flau’jae Johnson is officially headed to the WNBA after being selected No. 8 overall by the Golden State Valkyries in the first round of the 2026 WNBA Draft.

Johnson, a four-year starter for the LSU Tigers Women’s Basketball, leaves Baton Rouge following a standout collegiate career that solidified her as one of the most dynamic and recognizable players in women’s college basketball. She was also the first McDonald’s All-American to commit to Head Coach Kim Mulkey during her tenure at LSU, helping usher in a new era of success for the program.

A key contributor from the moment she arrived on campus, Johnson made an immediate impact, helping lead LSU to a National Championship as a freshman. She continued to build on that success, guiding the Tigers to back-to-back Elite Eight Appearances before their 2026 Tournament Run ended in the Sweet 16 on a last-second loss to Duke.

Known for her versatility, Johnson developed into a high-level two-way guard capable of scoring, defending, and facilitating at an elite level. Her ability to impact every aspect of the game made her a top prospect in this year’s draft class.

Off the court, Johnson also emerged as a major figure in the NIL Era, building a strong personal brand while balancing athletics, music, and community engagement. Her presence helped elevate LSU’s National Profile, contributing to sellout crowds and widespread attention for the program.

Now headed to the West Coast, Johnson joins a Golden State Valkyries Franchise that is building momentum after a playoff appearance and record fan support in its inaugural season. Her addition brings star power, leadership, and championship experience to a team looking to establish itself as a contender.

As she begins her professional career, Flau’jae Johnson carries with her a Legacy of Excellence from LSU and the promise of even greater achievements at the next level.
