UNCF New Orleans Mayor’s Masked Ball Celebrates Education, Leadership, and Opportunity

The Annual United Negro College Fund (UNCF) New Orleans Mayor’s Masked Ball brought together business, civic, and educational leaders for an unforgettable evening dedicated to expanding educational opportunity and supporting Historically Black Colleges and Universities (HBCUs).

Held at the elegant Hyatt Regency New Orleans, the 2026 Gala served as one of the city’s Premier Philanthropic Events, raising critical funds to support scholarships and educational programs that benefit students pursuing higher education, particularly at HBCUs. The evening highlighted the importance of investing in education and ensuring that talented students have access to the resources needed to succeed.

The event was hosted by Kevin Frazier and Anthony Anderson, who brought energy, humor, and inspiration to the program as they guided attendees through a night celebrating UNCF, and their commitment to Educational Excellence.

New Orleans Mayor Helena Moreno addressed attendees during the evening, speaking about the importance of investing in education and expanding opportunity for young people in New Orleans and across the nation. She emphasized the vital role Historically Black Colleges and Universities play in developing leaders and strengthening communities, while reaffirming her commitment to supporting educational initiatives that help students pursue higher education and achieve long-term success.

A highlight of the evening was the recognition of two Outstanding Honorees whose contributions have had a lasting impact on culture and community. Grammy Award-Winning Musician Jon Batiste was honored for his Global Influence and Dedication to using music as a force for inspiration and positive change. Also recognized was Blaine Kern Jr., whose Leadership and Creativity in the Mardi Gras Industry have helped preserve one of New Orleans’ most treasured cultural traditions.

Throughout the evening, UNCF scholars were also recognized, offering powerful reminders of why the work of the organization matters. Their stories reflected resilience, determination, and the transformative Power of Education.

With strong support from community partners, donors, and sponsors, the UNCF New Orleans Mayor’s Masked Ball once again demonstrated the power of collective commitment to education. The funds raised will help ensure that more students can pursue their dreams through higher education while strengthening the Legacy and Future of America’s Historically Black Colleges and Universities.
