Anthony Bean Community Theater to Present two R&B-Centered Plays

Between August 4th through 6th, the Anthony Bean Community Theater will host a play that will feature over 75 of New Orleans’s youth in its musical plays “Ol Skool: and Soulville.

Written and Directed by Anthony Bean “Soulville,” is an inspirational youth musical written and directed by Anthony Bean, featuring radio air personality, Oliver Thomas. Mr. Thomas plays a Radio Talk Show Host who experiments with an open mic forum for today’s youth. Through a series of monologues, sketches and musical numbers, we witness the world as seen through the eyes of our youth as they search for life’s true meaning. ‘Ol Skool’ will have you will singing and dancing in the aisles to your favorite old hits. The young performers will sing and lip-sync to the Marvelette’s “Please, Mr. Postman,” The Dixie Cups’ “Chapel of Love,” Frankie Lymon’s “Why Do Fools Fall in Love,” Irma Thomas’ ‘It’s Raining’ and many, many more. This premiere production is written and directed by Anthony Bean in collaboration with ABCT Summer Teaching Staff, which consists of choreography by Torrence L. Taylor, vocals by Maya Carter and Steve Burke, costumes by Ms. B. and set and lighting by John Grimsley.
