Essence Festival of Culture 2024: Celebrating 30th Anniversary

The 2024 ESSENCE Festival of Culture is set to be a momentous celebration marking its 30th Anniversary. The festival will be a star-studded affair that takes place in New Orleans from July 4th – 7th, featuring an impressive lineup of performances and events that honor its rich history and cultural significance.

Headlining this year’s festival are iconic artists such as the award-winning artist Usher, who will deliver a special one-night-only performance celebrating the 20th Anniversary of his album “Confessions,” and the legendary and iconic Janet Jackson, who will return to the festival stage for another stellar performance. Joining them is festival staple Charlie Wilson, known for his soulful hits and dynamic stage presence, and a host of other talented musicians including award winning singer-songwriter Victoria Monét and the New Orleans-based global sensation Tank and the Bangas.

In addition to the evening concert series at Caesar’s Superdome, the festival will include various daytime events, such as the ESSENCE Film Festival, ESSENCE Eats, and the Beautycon Stage, ensuring a comprehensive celebration of Black culture and community. The festival will conclude with an all-white party and a special tribute to Frankie Beverly & Maze.

The Roots, Busta Rhymes, and more.
In addition to the concerts, the festival will offer a variety of curated experiences, including the ESSENCE Film Festival, AFROPUNK BLKTOPIA, and numerous brand activations and pop-up events.

Friday, July 5:
• Birdman presents “30 Years of Cash Money Millionaires” featuring a reunion of Cash Money artists.
• Performances by: Raphael Saadiq, The Roots with Mickey Guyton, Ari Lennox, T-Pain, Busta Rhymes, and Jacquees.
• Hosts: Pretty Vee and Punkie Johnson.
• DJ: Raj Smoove.


Saturday, July 6:
• Headliner: Usher performing “Confessions” to mark its 20th Anniversary.
• Co-headliner: Charlie Wilson.
• Club Quarantine Live: D-Nice featuring Sheila E, Big Boi, Donell Jones, Tweet, Lloyd, and Machel Montano.
• TGT Reunion: Tank, Ginuwine, and Tyrese.
• Performance by: Ayra Starr.
• Host: Kenny Burns.
• DJ: Clark Kent.


Sunday, July 7:
• Headliner: Janet Jackson.
• Co-headliner: Victoria Monét.
• Performances by: SWV, Tank & The Bangas, Teedra Moses, HaSizzle, and Dawn Richard.
• Hosts: Keke Palmer and Big Tigger.
• DJ: Beverly Bond.
