The Canal St.- Algiers Ferry will be increasing its operating hours to accommodate the anticipated passenger traffic for the New Year’s Eve celebration and fireworks on the river.
On Sunday, December 31, 2017 (New Year’s Eve) the Canal St./ Algiers Ferry will operate until 1:15 a.m. Monday, January 1, 2018 (New Year’s Day). Immediately before and during the fireworks display, the vessel will be required to be out of service for a short time as directed by the United States Coast Guard.
The final departure of the night from Algiers Point will be at 1:00 a.m. The final departure from Canal Street will be at 1:15 a.m.
The Canal St./ Algiers Ferry’s normal Monday operating schedule of 6:00 a.m. to 9:45 p.m. will resume on January 1, 2018.
The Chalmette Ferry will operate its normal schedule on December 31, 2017, and January 1, 2018 (6:00 a.m. to 8:45 p.m.).
