Data News Staff Edited Report

The Full Gospel Baptist Church Fellowship International, in partnership with event sponsor Compassion International, is excited to announce an upcoming event designed to support and uplift the youth and families of New Orleans. On Monday, July 8, 2024, they distributed Back to School Swag Bags (1:00 p.m.-3:00 p.m.) and provided groceries to local families (3:00 p.m.-5:00 p.m.) at Grace and Glory Family Worship Church International (802 Third Street New Orleans LA 70130).

This community event aimed to assist 150 New Orleans youth by providing Back to School Swag Bags, which include school uniform shirts, book bags, school supplies, and mental health tool kits for success. Additionally, the fellowship strengthens 100 families in the area by supplying one week’s worth of groceries.

“At the heart of our Fellowship is the desire to uplift and empower those in need,” said Bishop Joseph W. Walker, III, International Presiding Bishop of Full Gospel Baptist Church Fellowship International. “By providing essential school supplies and groceries, we are not only meeting immediate needs but also investing in the future success and well-being of our children and families. This partnership with Compassion International, New Orleans Recreation Department Commission (NORDC), and Malcolm Poree, CEO of Poree’s Embroidery, and Pastor Eileen Johnson, Senior Pastor of Grace and Glory Family Worship Church International exemplifies our shared mission of compassion and care, both locally and globally.”

The fellowship’s goal is to positively impact our community by providing essential resources that address both immediate needs and long-term well-being. By equipping students with the necessary tools and supplies for the upcoming school year, the fellowship aims to alleviate some of the financial burdens faced by families and create an environment where children can thrive academically and personally. Providing groceries to families not only helps to ensure food security but also fosters a sense of community support and care.

“This event demonstrates our unwavering commitment to serving our community,” said Bishop Paul S. Morton, Sr., Founder of Full Gospel Baptist Church Fellowship International. “We believe in making a positive impact through our actions, and we are grateful to have the support of Compassion International and our dedicated partners in making a tangible difference in the lives of New Orleans youth and families.”

This effort is being spearheaded by The Full Gospel Baptist Church Fellowship Outreach Department under the leadership of Bishop Dwight Gunn, Bishop of Outreach.
