Reverend Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. was born Michael King Jr., on January 15, 1929 in Atlanta, GA. Dr. King was an American Baptist Minister and Activist who became the most visible spokesperson and leader in the Civil Rights Movement. He is best known for his role in the advancement of civil rights using the tactics of nonviolence and civil disobedience based on his Christian beliefs and inspired by the nonviolent activism of Mahatma Gandhi. Dr. King forever changed the lives of the African Americans who for centuries, lived in this country without freedom and without being afforded even basic dignity or humanity. We at Data News Weekly, are forever indebted to Dr. King and the others who bravely stood up, and walked throughout this country to fight for our rights as Americans, endowed by the Constitution, of Life, Liberty and the Pursuit of Happiness. Thank you Dr. King, and Happy Birthday!
