Renown Actor New Orleans Native Carl Weathers to Posthumously Receive Star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame

New Orleans Native Carl Weathers, who passed away earlier this year at the age of 76, will Posthumously receive a Star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame on August 29, 2024.

Weathers grew up in uptown New Orleans, attending James Lewis Grade School, before graduating from St. Augustine High School. He attended college at Long Beach City College and San Diego State becoming a letterman and helping them win the Pasadena Bowl. At San Diego State, Weathers who considered acting his first love and had been performing plays since grade school received a Master’s in Theatre Arts.

Weathers also played professional football in the NFL for the Oakland Raiders and the CFL with the B.C. Lions.

In his decades-long career, he was one of few actors who accomplished becoming known for such iconic characters as Weathers played. Characters such as Apollo Creed from the “Rocky” films, Chubbs in “Happy Gilmore”, Dillon in “Predator”, and Jericho Jackson aka “Action Jackson”.
