Saturday, May 11th was a beautiful day of triumph and achievement as New Orleans’ three HBCUs, Dillard, SUNO and Xavier Universities, conferred degrees upon hundreds of graduating seniors as well as many post graduate students. Dr. Carmen J. Walters, SUNO’s Commencement Speaker and a proud graduate of SUNO perhaps put it best when she asked degree candidates to look at the floor, then look at the ceiling. “The floor is where you are now; the ceiling is where you are headed,” she said.
