Iconic and Internationally acclaimed Chef Leah Chase was laid to rest last Monday, June 10th following a beautiful service celebrating her life and legacy at St. Peter Claver Catholic Church. World renowned trumpeter/composer Terrence Blanchard played a final serenade, a jazz rendition of “Just a Closer Walk with Thee” at the close of the service. He and Trombone Shorty played as Leah’s casket left the church. Following the service, a second-line proceeded enroute past her restaurant, Dooky Chase’s. Hundreds packed the streets to pay homage to New Orleans royalty – the Queen of Creole Cuisine.
